A Film for Social Change Is Being Made in Riga

Ievietots: 16.06.2025

The project “Filmmaking for Social Change” has reached an intense phase. A team from the Cypriot organization Step Up Stop Slavery and Malta’s Cross Culture International Foundation has arrived in Riga to produce a feature film.

The film’s main character, Ahmad, has come to another country to work. However, he soon discovers that the conditions and rules awaiting him are very different from what was promised. How can he escape this situation? We will find out once the film is completed.

Last week involved both preparations and filming. The main filming location was chosen to be the creative community “Viskaļi” on the shores of Lake Ķīšezers. The team is very pleased with the material created so far. The work continues.

The NGO “Shelter ‘Safe House’”, under the leadership of the Maltese organization Cross Culture International Foundation and in cooperation with Step Up Stop Slavery (Cyprus), is implementing the Erasmus+ co-funded project “Filmmaking for Social Change”.
