Welcome to the home page of the society „Shelter „Safe House””!
The society „Shelter „Safe House”” was established on 6 August 2007 with the aim to develop support services to victims of human trafficking, legal immigrants, including asylum seekers, refugees and persons granted subsidiary protection status:
- ensuring the individual`s right to receive adequate assistance and defence,
- changing public attitude towards the abovementioned persons,
- promoting rehabilitation and reintegration of victims of human trafficking into the society,
- providing support services to legal immigrants, including asylum seekers, refugees and persons granted subsidiary protection status,
- creating interactive forms of training,
- expanding cooperation with state and local government institutions, public and Christian organisations in Latvia and worldwide.
On 17 September 2007, the society was registered as a social services provider, and it started operations on 20 November 2007, when the rights were obtained to offer state- paid social rehabilitation services to victims of human trafficking. Assistance has been rendered since 2007. Services are offered in accordance with the Cabinet Regulation No. 889 adopted 31 October 2006 „Regulations Regarding the Procedures, by Which Victims of the Traffic in Human Beings Receive Social Rehabilitation Services, and the Criteria for the Recognition of a Person as a Victim of the Traffic in Human Beings.” |
