Introductory Course on Life in Latvia: 2025 Statistics

Ievietots: 15.03.2026

Last year, the association "Shelter ‘Safe House’" continued to provide support to third-country nationals and persons in need of international protection, helping them gain a better understanding of life in Latvia.

The goal of the project "Latvia – a country by the Baltic Sea!" is to provide both theoretical and practical knowledge about the country, its institutions, legislation, culture, and daily life.

In 2025, a total of 29 training groups were implemented with 443 participants. Men predominated among the participants at 84%, while women made up 16% of the total. These data also reflect broader migration trends, where men are more frequently involved in migration due to employment and security considerations.

During the courses, participants acquire knowledge about Latvia`s social system, healthcare, employment opportunities, human rights, non-discrimination principles, and public administration, as well as Latvian history, culture, and traditions. The sessions take the form of both lectures and practical activities, including visits to institutions, to help participants navigate life in Latvia.

Thank you to all participants and cooperation partners for a successful year!

The project "Latvia – a country by the Baltic Sea!" is implemented with the support of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund for the 2021–2027 period and will continue until August 2026.
